The Book Stall, St Andrews
This is what is happening on the other side of the road from the last painting. A bookshop in St Andrews called Bouquiniste spills over from its premises on Market Street and sets up a stall on the street. It attracts a lot of interest and livens up this stretch of road.
It looks like their customers include locals, day trippers and students. The man with the black rucksack is probably a student or a lecturer as he is wearing a St Andrews University scarf. I enjoyed emphasising all the interesting patterns that were in the scene:- the brickwork, the cobbles, the tiles, the ladies pink skirt and the stallholder’s jumper. Even the books on the table form an attractive pattern of colours.
