Sunday at The Botanics
These benches are always busy on a nice sunny day. They are south facing and situated along the side of the Glass House at Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens or as it’s more commonly called, “The Botanics”. The Botanics are a very popular choice for city residents in need of some fresh air and tranquillity. There are regular exhibitions and hands on learning activities for children etc but most people come here to wander around outside, watch the ducks at the duck pond and generally enjoy the luxury of the wide-open spaces.
As you can see, the people I was studying that day were reading, chatting, amusing their children or just relaxing in the sun. The lady on the far right had even taken her shoes off to really feel at home. In the background you can see the plants through the windows of the glasshouse. The part of the glasshouse that I have shown houses the Arid Lands plants from North America, Southern Africa, Arabia, and Madagascar. Cacti are my favourite type of plants. I love their odd, geometric shapes plus you don’t have to remember to water them!
