Pittenweem Ice Cream
This is a fun little painting I did after a trip to the fantastic ice cream shop in Pittenweem. It’s always so hard to choose between the 120 different types of sweeties in jars or the delicious Janetta’s ice cream. We often have to go for both!
It was the colourful bunting and the giant ice cream cone with a seagull perched on top that caught my eye. I loved the way the shadow of the bunting hit the wall so you got double the effect. In this little scene, the girl in the pink dress enters the shop for the second time. Her Mum follows on to pay for another ice cream. She hopes that her daughter will hold on a bit tighter to it this time. The seagulls on the road hope she doesn’t. The men on the bench smile smugly as they tuck into their 99’s.
